Creating A Diverse STEM Community
EP 89 w/ NALA(STEM) Podcast

Check out last week’s newsletter: Building Genuine Connections
CREATING A DIVERSE STEM COMMUNITY
In 2020, I was able to create not only IncrediPaul but also a nonprofit with the help of two great friends who have also been guests on the podcast Dr. Nathalie Fuentes and Dr. Lizeth Tamayo.
Back then it was more of a question of who would be interested in this community we were building for LSAMP Alumni and now it’s got the attention of a large majority of the 50+ LSAMP alliances each supporting 10 colleges and universities. And now we’re finalizing details on conference for next spring!
The foundation for nonprofit is mentorship and you’ll hear more about that, but what I’m really excited about is the podcast I’m getting to produce with the host Imani Porter!
Check out this episode which is a collaboration between IncrediPaul Leadership and the new NALA(STEM) podcast which premieres this afternoon at 5pm EDT! I share about my story, how and why NALA(STEM) was founded and so much more!

MORE DETAILS ABOUT EPISODE
I share how my passion for uniting and supporting historically excluded peoples in STEM led to the formation of NALA(STEM), which focuses on mentorship, conferences, and workshops. I explain how the COVID-19 pandemic forced NALA(STEM) to adapt and connect with students virtually, using cold emails and social media to reach out to LSAMP directors and students. I discuss my experiences in various roles and industries, highlighting the importance of continuous improvement and learning from different leadership styles. I emphasize the value of making connections and being open to new opportunities, even if they don't align perfectly with your initial career goals.
CONTENT CREATION HELP
Have you thought about starting your own podcast or creating content? Not sure where to begin? A lot of times we just need the tools to succeed. Check out the tools I use all the time to be successful in podcasting and content creation.
VIRTUAL PODCAST RECORDING: Whether you’re recording audio or video, this a great tool for higher quality than recording on zoom and there’s a free version to start!
PODCAST CLIP CREATION: This is a game changer simply copy the link from YouTube or Google Drive and now you have viral potential clips and it gives you a score as well.
MICROPHONE: You need a good sound for your content creation.
WEBCAM: Great webcam for good quality videos without breaking the bank with an expensive camera.
Disclaimer that I’m an affiliate for the above services, but I use them all the time and they’ve been a huge help! Any questions, let me know!
