Practicing Your Leadership
Talking about Practice? Allen Iverson not included for those who know… but if you don’t then don’t worry about it
Excuse the sidebar… back to this newsletter.
How do you practice your leadership?
Why is it important to practice your leadership?
First and main reason is that you don’t get better at anything without practicing it.
You can read all the books, go to all conferences, buy all the courses, but if you don’t actually action on what you learn then it really doesn’t mean anything.
This is why certain times people can “come out of nowhere” because they’ve been putting the time and effort in smaller ways before anyone saw then and when the opportunity came, then they were able to seize it.
What does this look like with leadership?
One option is finding ways to serve your team. I really don’t think there is leadership without it being servant leadership.
Leaders are there to remove barriers and empower the team to achieve incredible things!
Second way is casting vision for your team. You don’t need to be the CEO to cast vision for your team. It could be as simple as seeing opportunities where your team can improve on and suggesting ways to improve in those areas.
It’s easier to stay complacent, but leaders are hungry for improvement and growth.
The third way I’ll discuss is empowering others in their leadership. Remember that Leadership is influence and regardless on if you have the title, you can empower someone by highlighting the influence they hold in a particular area.
This week I talk with Tiffeny Parker and we dive deep into talking about self leadership and she shares her journey as an Olympic Athlete transition from heptathlete to bobsledder to executive coach and everything in between!
TL;DR
