Servant Leadership

What really is servant leadership?

It’s a term that’s become more prevalent as leadership has been more of a focus than management over the last several years.

It’s the idea of leaders serving their people instead of just telling them what to do, but how does this work?

Do you just let your people do what ever they want and just support them, or do you need to outline exactly what needs to be done first?

First let’s take a step back and realize that leadership is the ultimate act of service when done correctly. You’re putting the needs of the team ahead of your own needs and wants to make sure things are done correctly.

It’s making sure that people have the right tools to do their jobs and you’re removing any boundaries that get in their way and it takes a lot communication skills especially with listening.

This is one aspect of it, but servant leadership as a whole really comes down to showing emotional intelligence and I had the honor of talking with a leader who models it herself in this week’s episode!

Marianna Kinnee is seasoned professional in supply chain and a podcaster herself with a podcast that’s in the top 10% globally! Her show is called Might in Motion.
