World Series Leadership Lessons
On Friday night, I had the opportunity of a lifetime to go to Game 6 of the World Series at Rogers Centre in Toronto, ON, Canada to see the Blue Jays potentially clinch their first championship in 32 years! (They didn’t)
But let me tell you that the atmosphere was electric!
From the moment I stepped into the stadium, you could feel it. The tension. The excitement. The hope. Every fan was locked in. Strangers high-fived like lifelong friends. Entire sections chanted in perfect rhythm.
Even the quiet moments between pitches carried weight because everyone knew, this could be it.
That’s the power of authenticity.
The fans weren’t trying to perform. The players weren’t pretending. Everyone showed up as their full, raw selves: anxious, passionate, hungry for victory. And that’s exactly what made it so unforgettable!
Authenticity Is the Real Game-Changer
Leadership works the same way.
When you show up authentically, not as who you think people expect you to be, but as who you truly are, people feel it. They buy in. They trust you.
Because authenticity creates connection!
At that game, I saw leaders in action, not just the players, but the fans leading chants, the coaches making bold calls, even the vendors keeping the crowd energized. Everyone had a role, and everyone brought their unique energy to the moment. That’s what made it powerful.
Too often in leadership, especially in STEM or corporate environments, we’re taught to play it safe. Ignore emotions. Stick to the process.
But here’s the truth…
People don’t follow perfection; they follow real.
Being authentic doesn’t mean oversharing or winging it. It means aligning your actions with your values, being transparent about your journey, and inviting others to do the same. That’s how you build trust. That’s how you lead teams that believe in something bigger than themselves.
And just like the World Series, that kind of leadership leaves a lasting impact.

ON A LESS SERIOUS NOTE…
S/O to the LA Dodgers winning Back 2 Back World Series Championships against the Toronto Blue Jays… seems like the Kendrick/Drake saga is never ending but only one side is clearly winning IYKYK
TL;DR:
Game 6 of the World Series reminded me that authenticity is contagious. When people show up as their real selves, energy spreads, trust grows, and impact multiplies. The same is true in leadership. If you want to inspire others, start by being real.
Tune into this week’s episode with TedX speaker Robin Nathaniel to learn how authenticity fuels connection, leadership, and lasting influence.
